Bethalto Family Vision Care was established in the fall of 1980 when Dr. Mark Ellison purchased the part-time practice of Dr. James McQuiston in Bethalto, Illinois. The original office was located at 112 W Bethalto Drive. The office had one examination room, a receptionist, and initially no hot water. The practice stayed there until our current office location was built in 1989. The current office building has two examination rooms, a pre-screening room, and a full-service optical. In March 2018, Dr. Ellison sold Bethalto Family Vision Care to Dr. Lynley Atwood who started working part-time in the office June of 2010 while continuing to pursue her degree.
Over the years, Bethalto Family Vision Care has grown substantially. We have increased our diagnostic testing to include automated visual field testing, retinal imaging, and optical coherence tomography. This allows the most advanced evaluation of the patient’s eyes and visual system possible. In addition we, of course, prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and specialty contact lenses.
